scarab mirror
The Scarab mirror is made of a carved, rounded walnut frame and a suspended stone of glass. This vignette of glass is created by flameworking thin glass rods, forming delicate droplets of glass. These are arranged into an organic composition similar to a bezel-set stone of an ancient scarab ring. These rings, originally created and worn by the ancient Egyptians and later the ancient Greeks, were objects seen as symbols of rebirth.
